Wright Brothers – South Kensington, London

Wright brothers have a few oyster bars around London. Some of the Oysters are sourced from Prince Charles’ leased oyster farm in Cornwall.

For this review, I visited the South Kensington restaurant. I walked into the dining room at 4.30pm. Question is why such an early supper? Easy answer is that they have a oyster happy hour between 3pm-6pm. £1 per a oyster. Oysters used to be poor person’s food in the UK. I think, even with this happy hour offer, times have certainly changed.

I find my companion quickly and we ordered 6 of those £1 oysters and some whelks with french fries and aioli. This time the oysters were from Jersey – not Cornwall. Even if they were not royal, they were very good. I also enjoyed the whelks and I could not have had enough of that aioli. That was very well done. For main there was fishpie which had very nice quality of fish and was very well put together.

In all it was a nice early supper and the staff were very friendly and attentive, and knowledgeable about the dishes and the seafood.

Wright Brothers also offer 90 mins Oyster master classes.
