Bumpkin – South Kensington, London

What could be nicer than a crisp Saturday winter morning and a late breakfast at a British rustic pub? Luckily, one does not need to go to the countryside to enjoy this. Bumpkin, located in South Kensington serves breakfast to passer-by’s from 10am onward during the weekends. The service was a bit sticky at the start but it soon got going on well. I was among the first customers of the day, so I put that down to that. I had earl grey tea, and Eggs Royale. I was glad to be informed that they had specialist “milks” as well as breads. My Eggs Royal had “5 litres” of Hollandaise sauce on the-egg-salmon-muffin combo. Nevertheless they had also healthier options on the menu such as a muffin made with quinoa-flour topped off with spinach, two soft poached eggs, and a nut lemon sauce. It was nice enough a place for a relaxed breakfast. The venue was cheerily decorated for the Christmas season that nicely enhanced its cosiness.
